“At this time, the sliding shutters in the Western (left) side of the house had not yet been installed and the vines had not (yet) grown. Despite the lack of shading in the Summer, comfortable conditions could be achieved. Four important reasons for this were:
1) Good ventilation through open windows
2) The South-facing facade effectiveness during the Summer
3) Shading achieved from the embrasures and small balconies
4) The long time-constant of the house.”
